Sangoma Technologies continues to invest in X.25 protocol support
X.25 Business Is Alive, Well, Profitable And Growing TORONTO, Dec. 2 /CNW/ - Sangoma Technologies Corporation (TSX-VEN: STC), a leading provider of connectivity hardware and software products for WANs and Internet infrastructure, continues to invest in the X.25 communications protocol due to ongoing worldwide demand.
"Sangoma is recognized as a world leader in support of the X.25 platform both on the hardware and software side, having been involved with X.25 development since 1984," says Sangoma Technologies president and CEO David Mandelstam. "We are seen by our customers not only as a X.25 solution provider, but also as a resource with an in-depth knowledge of both this protocol and operational conditions of X.25 networks. Customers such as European-based SITA, OKI System Solutions Company of Japan and Avaya, Inc. of the US are some of the new customers who see the value of our products and expertise in supporting their X.25-based projects."
To demonstrate its research and development commitment to the space, Sangoma Technologies recently revised X.25 drivers so its cards can support double the number of lines they could previously, resulting in unprecedented performance/cost ratios.
It is estimated the installed base of X.25 equipment is still in the (US)$10 billion range, with software applications valued at two or three times that amount. In certain parts of the world, demand for X.25 services continues to grow.
"There are many large organizations still using and supporting the X.25 platform for their communications infrastructure, so we continue to add internal technical resources to help manage our growth of the legacy business," adds Mandelstam. "Although globally the trend is to replace X.25 networks with those based on IP, our business is growing because many large X.25 vendors have either exited the market or scaled down their support."
Sangoma Technologies' other current solution set includes:
- High performance and reliable communications modules for OEM projects involving ATM, Frame Relay, X.25, SS7, HDLC, BiSync and other protocols
- WANPIPE(R) internal high performance IP routing solutions over T1, E1, ADSL and serial links
- The WAN Edukit(TM) protocol teaching tool for educational institutions
- POS (Point-of-Sale) interface cards for security and customer loyalty applications
